How my journey began

Sammy is bursting with sunshine and loves nothing more than guiding you through your practice.

“Yoga is the key component in my self care tool kit and I love sharing that with people. Working in community services and for international aid organizations I learnt quickly that you have to care for and love yourself to be able to keep caring for others. When I was surrounded by great need, it was all too easy to forget about myself, my health , my mind, body and spirit.

My yoga journey began 15 years ago when my colleague brought me to a hot yoga class (that is heated at 38 degrees for a 60 minute sequence). I face planted, giggled uncontrollably and then tried not to throw up (I was the worst). I was astounded at the other people that could just bend forwards and touch their toes (no I was not super flexible when I started). I went back again and again practicing in all kinds of environments and styles and studios. Yoga became a daily practice for me. It complemented my journey of Ahimsa (nonviolence). I found strength, fitness, flexibility, improved concentration, stress relief and relief of back tension. I found peace in my mind and a safe space to tune in and listen to my needs. When you are peaceful and aligned that naturally spills out into your life, extending compassion and kindness to those around you. Through all of life’s plot twists and lessons I have found a practice that catered for me through it all. I am grateful for this and I just have to share it with you!

What else do I do for self care? Tea! Getting out to the ocean, hand making pottery, sketching and water colour painting, hiking in the bush, salsa dancing, laughing with my amazing friends and a good scotch whiskey.”
